Hi I’m Heather! I live in the suburbs outside of Boston, MA with my husband Jon and our hound dog Ruby (also known as Rubes, Rubester, Dr. Rubinstein, Pupps, the list goes on).

I really like food – I like to try new, potentially weird things (like making homemade cheese or creating my own vinegar mother), I’m not a huge fan of  cooking, oddly enough, but I love to bake. I DO cook though – when I do it’s normally something fast OR a homemade soup or casserole of some sort (some of the few items I really enjoy cooking)  – but I’ve got a new goal of trying to keep it interesting. My theory is that I’ll enjoy cooking more if I’m trying new techniques often. Ruby, photo by Leslie

When it comes to baking, I love baking it all. Bread, cakes, muffins, quick breads, cookies… though sadly, I’ve been cutting back on all of these items in recent months… basically an attempt to eat healthy. No diet here, just a general goal of living a long, happy, active life!

Pictures on the site: they aren’t that great, I KNOW! I’m no photographer.

I take almost all of them with my trusty 3gs iPhone because it is the most handy item to have around and it’s super easy to upload the photos. I should break out a regular camera here and there, I really should, maybe some day I will.

Some random facts about me:

  • I’m not great at recipes – I make a lot of things up and don’t measure much. Somehow I am still good at baking.
  • Given the above, I’ll share a lot of “this is what I did” on this site, but probably not a lot of actual, detailed recipes, unless I used someone else’s recipe!
  • I’m 5’11” – I’m pretty sure my height is the first thing ANYone ever notices about me.
  • I wear fuchsia colored glasses every day. Love those things.
  • I’ve always been interested in all things culinary for as far back as I can remember.
  • Frosting is my absolute favorite part of any cake.
  • I love coffee. The darker the roast of coffee, the better.
